Welcome 6th graders and 6th grade parents!  I look forward to a great year.  I enjoyed meeting and getting reacquainted with so many of you at last weeks open house.

Please watch your childs Monday Folder for communication from both me and the office.  You may be asked to complete and return forms; please do so as soon as possible so the office has all the information it needs.

Please take a few moments to read the classroom policies sent home either at open house or in your childs Monday Folder.  If you have any questions or concerns, you have several ways to contact me.

  News to Note

 Beginning to read Old Yeller on Wednesday.  First reading vocabulary quiz on Wednesday of next week

 Completing math sets 1-5 this week and math placement test

 Science begins Wednesday with Mrs. Mroczkowski

 We will begin English in chapter 1, Nouns, on Wednesday

 Spelling Unit 1 is due Friday; Test 1 will also take place on Friday

 This weeks penmanship packet and mental math are due on Monday of next week

 In writing, we will be working on some simple writing prompts and looking over last years MEAP prompt

 Something new this year for your child...Kindergarten Buddies!  Each Thursday, the 6th grade class will travel to Mrs. Doanes Kindergarten classroom to participate in fun activities! 

 

The Kindergarteners learn a lot from their buddies; they work on learning letters, reading, and simple math problems.  In the process, the 6th graders learn a lot as well:  responsibility, patience, and how to set a good example. 

Our time with Mrs. Doane last year was a great experience, and I know the 6th graders are going to love it this year as well!
