Open House

It was nice to see so many families at the Open House last Thursday.  For those who were unable to attend, I have included the papers that were set out that evening in todays Monday Folder.

Monday Folders

On a regular week Monday Folders are due back signed by Wednesday.  Folders will be due on Thursday this week.  Please review any materials in the folder.  In future weeks, failing assignments can be removed.

Uniform Reminders

Shirts need to be tucked in during the school day

Belts are required for all students

      Dress shoes are required everyday

Zip up hooded sweatshirts are only allowed if they are navy blue and  embroidered with the Marshall Academy logo (there are a couple of places listed in the handbook that can do the embroidery)

It is a good idea to keep a pair of tennis shoes at school.

Schedule Information

Mrs. Thompson will be teaching English/writing to the class (I will be teaching 6th grade science)

Students will have 4 Latin periods per week for the first semester. They will have P.E. second semester.

Student will have one art period per week.

Supplies

If possible, please remember to send in a roll of paper towels, 2 boxes of facial tissues, and 1 can of disinfecting wipes for the classroom.

Class Website

Throughout the year I will post assorted pictures and other fun stuff to the class website.  As the year progresses, we will use this site in history class to help students get to a variety of Internet resources quickly when we go to the computer lab.  The address is:

The Week Ahead of Us

The students will complete sets 1 and 2 in math.  Topics include arithmetic with whole numbers and money, properties of operation, and sequences.

We will begin the novel Rifles for Watie by Harold Keith.  This novel is set during the Civil War.

We will be learning about waves in science.

We will begin Lesson 1 in vocabulary.

Unit 1 will be completed in spelling.  The topic of the unit is silent and sounded consonants.

In history we will be studying various calendar systems.
